Hey, it's me! First and foremost, thank you for being interested enough in both me and my work to be here right now. Time is the most valuable thing that we have to give to someone else, and here you are giving yours to me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
On this page, you will find out a few of the "black and white" facts, if you will, on who I am and where my photography journey started. If you're interested in continuing to get to know me a little better, I would encourage you to visit my blog tab regularly. Hopefully my current escapades will intrigue you!
My Story
The first time I picked up a camera, it felt like there was magic in my finger tips. My parents bought me a Canon Rebel back when I was a sophomore in high school along with two basic lenses that would get me by for a couple years. I brought it everywhere and quickly became the friend that everyone always relied on for a new profile picture.
Within the first year, I began getting paid for my work. Not much of course, but enough to make me feel like maybe one day I could really do this. Maybe one day I could work for myself and not feel like I'm working at all.
I started with senior portraits which turned into family portraits. Family portraits turned into engagement sessions. Engagement sessions turned into second shooting weddings with a local photographer, which then turned into booking my own weddings and finally the opening of my own business where I'm unlimited in what I can do, and the possibilities are endless!
I studied Event Management and Media Design, Production and Technology at Central Michigan University. While I was there, I concentrated primarily on nonprofit planning, photography, graphic / logo design and video production. I have a skill set that ranges from charcoal drawing, all the way to audio design and everything in between. My passion is creating.
During my senior year of college, that daunting question came up more times than I would have hoped. "What will you do after graduation?" often haunted me. It seemed as if it was the go-to conversation starter and no matter how good at talking to people I was, I was never quite able to come up with the right formulation of words to describe what I was looking for in a job. I knew one day I wanted to fulfill my dream of being a mom, but what would I do until then? I graduated after four long years and planned non-profit events in an internship, but I always reverted back to my hobby. My niche is definitely artistic portraits and nontraditional weddings, but anything that allows my creativity to shine is a job for me.
